Confluence Room

A live map of how dances think together

Confluence Room is a research environment for Global Movement Research. Each skeleton represents a captured dance, positioned in space by how it moves in relation to others. You can enter a dance, watch its motion, and compare bodies across confluences to see patterns of kinship, difference, and diffusion.

What you can do here:

  • Click a figure to enter its movement and metadata
  • Use Compare to study two dances side by side
  • Ask the Archive Voice to describe what it sees in the motion

All movements here are motion capture recordings governed by consent protocols. Some dances may be restricted or non-activating by design.

THE DANCE CONFLUENCE
A Thinking Archive for Dance Research

Dancers are positioned by movement similarity using motion capture, Qualitative Trajectory Calculus (QTC), and sequence alignment methods (SAM).

  • Bodies positioned by movement similarity
  • QTC and SAM compute relationships
  • Archive Voice provides grounded observations
  • Compare dances by body zone
